Dear Willow Oaks Community:

I am honored to be the continuing as principal of Willow Oaks School in the 2019-2020 school year. I look forward to creating a place where students and parents can work collaboratively with the teachers and staff to achieve success.

Willow Oaks is a community of peace, respect, and learning. My vision for this year is to continue a quality instructional program which empowers students to make choices, achieve their personal best, be college bound, and be productive, responsible, future ready participants in a 21st century global society.  We want our students to be proud of their achievements and to learn and grow from their mistakes.  We take pride in everything we do.

Whether you are joining us this year or have had multiple years with us, you are now part of the Willow Oaks family. You are your child’s best teacher. They will learn more from you than anyone else. We are a team in your child’s education.  I encourage all families to be involved at Willow. You are welcome to join our Parent/Teacher Club, volunteer in classrooms, and participate in other school-wide events. Our school calendar is sent out every month and you can always check the Willow website for activities you should be aware of.

As you may have heard, Willow Oaks School will be closing at the end of this year. With declining enrollment, Ravenswood City School District needs to merge some schools. Our school, both students and teachers, will be joining with Belle Haven Community School east of the freeway just off Willow Road. Although this is sad news, we have to do what is best for the students. Next year students will still have enrichment opportunities such as music, art, makerspace and physical education in addition to a strong core curriculum. For more information, please see the district website: www.ravenswoodschools.org

We at Willow Oaks remain committed to working harder than ever to continue teaching the necessary curriculum this year. Our teachers are focused on moving our students forward. Our goal, as always, is to give our students what they need to be successful in school and in life.

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this year.

With gratitude and just a little sadness,

Michelle Masuda Lee
